The only issue i have with these types of bushings over OEM is the maintenance required to keep them lubricated. Once the lubrication 'goes' the bushes bind and because they are much harder than OEM in vastly increases the harshness of the ride.

    Hey Pal,

I agree with you. I've had to re-grease my WhiteLine bushes a few years back.

However this particular brand has a life time warranty (Duh!), but also has small groves/cups to hold grease much longer.

Oh Cozz, last year I did 1,300 kilometres in the Red Jett. So I don't think it will be an issue for me.

I'm thinks of doing a panel fix/respray to bring the Jett back to mint. That'll cost me more than $3K

    Cheers. Phil.

I wouldn't touch the original paint if i was you, unless its in a bad state. Original paint, on an original car will be worth a lot more, but your car and you're not likely to sell so i guess do whatever makes you happy !

I've found the grooves and cups and cross hatching pretty much does nothing to retain the grease, but as you say, its a very low use vehicle so it shouldn't be an issue in your case.

I regularly did over 35,000km/year in my N15, so my maintenance schedule was more intense.

I will take your advice on the original paint, which is in a good state. Clay bared it recently with a good resin wax and polish. Looks tops. However many small paint chips on bonnet as it has never been front ended.

But, I need to get a small amount of rust taken out from the rear hatch; there are paint bubbles in a small area from a ding some 26 years ago, a few small dents to be taken out, and the front CAI ram to be remade.

    Your thoughts?

Got another quote on the bush replacements. $375.00 including alignment.

Taking the Red Jett here now:

    Twas recommended.

    Correct me if I'm wrong.

The rear suspension of the N14 was a true gem. Of course for the GTi-R WRC assault.

I didn't realise that the N14 rear end has a touch of LOTUS.

    Check it out.

The front N14 is McPherson struts, the rear is Chapman struts.

    Love it all.

    Chapman Strut.

The distinction is that the MacPherson strut always requires a lower track control arm. So NISSAN put the McPherson struts at the front, and Chapman struts at the back, with lower track control arms.

So there is a bit of LOTUS in the Red Jett. This Chapman rear end, was only in the N14 Pulsar (1991-1995). The N15 had torsion beam rear end.

Ive just had all my bushes replaced with Super Pro, new Silvers R Coilovers and added a 27mm front sway bar to the existing 16mm one as well.

Keen to hear how you go with your suspension overhaul!

Believe it or not, I got the Red Jett back today.

Front bushes (one is a newer Whiteline caster), but the others that were replaced were is average condition. The Rear bushes, all 12 of them, were shot.

New struts fitted with new strut tops.

    Wheel alignment to these specs.

Drove home noticing a most reasonable improvement. Say 25%, which is fantastic. Back to new again!

    Sounds like a decent improvement!

My alignment is booked in for tomorrow, I have been patiently waiting for this day for a few weeks now, excited to get it out on the road of the weekend to see how it handles.

I just collected my SSS from the Stewart at Steering and Alignment in Port Macquarie. He always does a fantastic job, very happy with how it has been set up.

Great news. Gotta be done, and hardly anyone does, unless they race them.

Even struts - every 80-100,000 kilometres. How many do that?

I'm glad we both did. The Red Jett in now on it's third set of struts. Currently 141,000 klicks.

Also, the boys that fitted the bushes and struts, (some aged early 20's - 8 years after manufacture in 1992) and dudes at the alignment place, loved the Red Jett. Hadn't seen one as pristine and a one owner to boot. Twas a good day.
