hi-po guys will say the gearbox. i would say the idle air system.
Engine/coolant thermostat position. What a pita to try and change. Had to do it on my '95, and putting off doing it again on my newly acquired '99 model.
Yup, would have been nice if the boxes could handle a bit more power before letting go.
Aus-specs not having power windows annoys me at times.

The tiny gap between the oil pickup and the bottom of the sump on an Sr20,
One dent to the Sump has been the cause of death for so many Sr motors
For making the GTIR gearboxes weak as piss, my old gtir... dear ****ing god. 3 gearboxes later.... before i sold her.
(4000 rpm launches with 220kw atw didnt help though.... )

GTiR motor in general... Everything from the rockers/shims to the idle system. Never building one again.
Also discontinuing important parts. Don't make engine internals but still make an ancient ABS system in its entirety.

The N15 air con's moaning sound at idle that everyone thinks is a failing bearing in the compressor.
The hyper-sensitive self cancelling indicator switch that you have to fight with on roundabouts.
Not putting a VVL motor in every Pulsar. #vvlfolyfe
