want to turbo the ga(y)16?

or consider a sr20det/vet complete motor/gearbox combo. you will need a **** load of dough.

which brings me back to option a.

you will likely need to have the turbo manifold custom made, or find somone in taiwan who makes them... ga16 seem to be popular in some asian countries.
dont want to be that guy telling you to sell your car, but really the ga16 has little support and minimal research, while the sr20 option has many many years of development and aftermarket support, not to mention availability of using OEM parts to turbocharge them.

edit- Hope you've got bucketloads of money spare if you want to go through with this, theres alot more to turbocharging a engine than chucking it on there.

Starting off with a GA base isn't ideal but still workable. I've rattled off a few things that will be needed/items to consider with either route.

Turboing your existing engine (GA16DE+T):
- custom manifold
- small turbo
- custom oil and coolant lines
- injectors
- ecu + tune
- exhaust
- clutch
- no stronger gearboxes/gearsets AFAIK, however I can't recall a GA box breaking as they probably don't make enough power to break.
- no LSD options AFAIK (edit: looks like you can use a n13 VLSD http://pulsar.org.au/forums/showthread.php?118-GA16-LSD-Conversion)
- limited engine mod support as stated by others

Engine conversion (SR20DET)
- will need SR20 flywheel, clutch, gearbox, driveshafts, possibly crossmember and mounts?
- may need SR loom as well
- exhaust
- can't remember if the ECU that comes with the eng will work, but can get standard SR20DE ECU+Nistune I think

@impulsr (http://pulsar.org.au/forums/member.php?u=8) has done the GA to SR conversion; he might be able to help further. Cause he's a top bloke he even did a write up on how to do it: http://pulsar.org.au/forums/showthread.php?430-GA16DE-to-Sr20DET-swap-N15
