Hi all,

Curious to find out off of those who have put a P12 Sump and pickup on a P11 SR20VE, exactly what components are required to achieve the extra oil capacity?

I have the Lower Sump (noticeably deeper)
I have the P12 oil pickup (again, noticeably different/deeper)

I have been told that I require the P12 oil dipstick. Can anyone whom has conducted the swap elaborate as to why a different dipstick is required?

I have got both the 20V and standard VE dipstick, the standard VE is longer and therefore reaches deeper into the sump. The P12 dipstick is shorter and with a higher "Full" level. Therefore, if using the P11 dipstick, I will end up with the right "Full oil level" for my motor but with more oil due to deeper lower sump. But using the P12 dipstick, I will essentially be 'overfilling' my engine in order to reach the high point on the P12 dipstick?

Is my theory right on this one?

The issue might be related to the dipstick tube and its length/position would probably dictate how long the dipstick is meant to be.

I also agree Simon. Wondering if someone out there with a 20V can measure the length of the receptacle that the dipstick sits in from where it mounts to the engine block to the top please!

I had a look at mine yesterday, its quite hard to get down to measure as the stick goes behind the A/C comp bracket, but i do think that the tube looks like its a bit shorter on the 20V which is likely due to how the OEM headers and heatshield are placed on the 20V.

20V sump has higher capacity? Can this be confirmed? If so that's mad :)

Hey mate. Yes 20V has higher capacity. Measured it the other day vs standard 20VE sump. Standard 20VE sump holds 2.2L brimmed to the top when level. P12 20V holds 2.9L. Extra 700mL!

The oil refill capacity is not that much different... so i don't think that tells the whole story.

How much different is the refill capacity Cozzmo?
I'm still sure that within MY current use (i.e, 20V sump on a 20VE) it will net me an extra 700mL as all that is changing is the pickup to reach deeper into the sump and the Lower Sump holding more oil.

Yeh i guess if you swap just that part over it would certainly increase if you have the pickup length to match. Its only like 200ml spec sheet fill difference from what i recall. i don't measure to the milliliter anymore. I just whack ~3.5L in and turn the key.
