Pulsar Group of Australia FAQ
Here you can find answers to questions about how the board works. Use the links or search box below to find your way around.

What are the forum rules?
Welcome to the Pulsar Group of Australia Forums. Please read this guide (http://pulsar.org.au/forums/showthread.php?14-Forum-Rules-and-Guidelines), ensuring that you fully understand the rules and guidelines before posting.

Your use of this forum is a privilege, not a right. All moderation is at the discretion of the Forum Moderators & Administrators, their decisions are final. The forums are designed to be a friendly & helpful environment and as such, action will be taken against users who don't comply with the guidelines.

How to tag a user in a post
Use the @ symbol followed by the users name, e.g. @Paullus (http://pulsar.org.au/forums/member.php?u=1) . The user will get a notification of the tag.

How do a like and/or share a thread on Facebook?
Use the Like and Share buttons at the top of each thread to like a thread or share it on Facebook. You can share pages to your Timeline, a friend's Timeline or in a Group (e.g Pulsar Group of Australia on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/groups/pulsargroup/?ref=bookmarks))

How do I upload an avatar?
An Avatar is a small picture displayed below your username on all posts that you make.

An avatar file can be jpeg, bmp or gif format. The maximum size is 114 by 114 pixels and 60 KB. If your picture is too large, resize it in MS Paint.

How do I add photos to a post?
To add a photo from your computer to a post, scroll down to Additional Options below where you type the message, click on Manage Attachments.

35

Select Browse, and select the photo from wherever it's stored on your computer.

Click Upload. Wait for the file to upload, then close the window.

When you submit your post, it will have the photo attached to it.

If you want it to display full size in the post, click on the attachment, copy the URL of it, and paste it into the original post with IMG tags on either side... so it looks like this:

Insert URL of attachment here

The IMG tags tell the forum to automatically display the attachment as a picture in full size.

Note: Please be mindful of dial-up users that are viewing the pictures. If they are too large, resize them to 640x480 pixels using a graphics program.

My photos are too big, how do I resize them?
Photos that are too big are difficult to view and take a long time to download.
Digital photos are made up of tiny squares of colour called pixels. The number of pixels that make up each photo determine the resoloution. We need to make sure that the resoloution is low enough to display easily and quickly.

Here is a simple tool to resize photos.

Download & install the Image Resizer for your operating system
https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/ (https://imageresizer.codeplex.com/)

Once installed, you can right click on one or multiple images to resize them.

- Right Click on any image(s). Select Resize Pictures

36

- Select Small (640 x 480) This means the photo will be 640 wide and 480 high. This size is probably best for forum use and emailing.

- Click OK.

37

A new image is then created called xxxx(Small).jpg. Your Original photo is unchanged.

If you hover the curser over the new file, you can see the dimensions.

How do I get more attachment space? (Under review)
Each member has a limited amount of attachment space, 10 MB.

If you would like increased attachment space, make a forum payment. Your attachment space will be increased to 50 MB, along with other privileges, extra Private Message space.

You can view & delete current attachments by going to User CP > Miscellaneous > Attachments

How do I get more private message space?
Private message storage for non-donating members is limited to 50 messages.

For donating members, the private message quota is increased to 250 messages, along with other privileges such as extra Attachment space, access to the Trading Post & Members Area.

How do I make a payment, and what do I get in return?
This forum is entirely funded by support payments from forum members. Some of the features that supporting members enjoy are:

- Upgrade from a http://pulsar.org.au/forums/images/ranks/Brownie.bmp to a http://pulsar.org.au/forums/images/ranks/VIP_Member.bmp in your post bit area.

- Increased Private Message storage from 50 to 250 messages.

- Increased attachment storage from 10MB to 50MB

Why was my thread deleted?
If a thread you posted is missing, it has probably been deleted or moved by the moderators. There are several reasons why threads get deleted or moved.

- Posted in the wrong forum section - this includes for sale threads posted anywhere other than the trading post.

- Contained offensive or illegal material - we have a strict G rating and also discourage discussion of illegal activities. Children, learner drivers and POLICE read this forum. Be mindful of what you post.

- Been off topic. We have an off topic section; this does not mean anything goes.

If you feel that your thread was unfairly deleted, please contact the moderator of the section you posted in.

Why was my signature deleted?
Signatures come under the same forum rules as posts. They mustn't contain offensive materials.

Once set, signatures appear under every post that you make. Keep in mind that others may not want to read a load of bollocks every time you post.

- Limit of 150 characters

- Must comply with the posting guidelines

- Please don't list your car modifications, this belongs in your members profile.

- Advertising or external linking is not permitted in signatures.

Any signatures not complying with these guidelines will be removed without warning.

If you have any further questions please post them here.

Report it with the Report Post button with a reason like "please delete" and one of the mods will pick it up.
