    Shifter linkage bushing

    Hi all,

Would anyone know somewhere that sells the linkage bushing for the bolt that connects the linkage to the gearbox or what to search for on ebay maybe? Nissan no longer makes them.

Thank you if anyone can help me with this as mine is missing and it makes for a very sloppy gear stick. N14 SR20 manual.

Yep it might be the ebay one. I've emailed the seller to find out if it is the one for the bolt that connects the linkage to the gearbox to be sure.
Thanks heaps for your help and the web link.

Unfortunately that's the bushing for the gear shifter connection to the linkage not the gearbox end.

This is the correct one, for linkage connection to the gearbox end.

Replaced it on the Red Jett three months ago.

The part you need is above, see numbers: 20 & 21.

    I have changed: 20, 21, and 27 bushes. As I have a B&M short shifter also changed the washers between no: 13 & 19.

    Cheers…

Thanks for that breakdown picture, it's the bushing for the 22 bolt and what looks like the 27 nut or if that's the bushing, either way that's the part I'm after. Where did you happen to find the number 27 bushing?
    Cheers

Got ya… you need four (x4) of these bushes. They were about $2.50 each.

    Nissan part # 34112-J8000

    Cheers…

ps: I would recommend that you fit this as well. No's 20 & 21.

    Thanks Phil,

The problem is I've rang Nissan and they don't stock that bushing anymore, is that how you obtained yours when you did the replacement or do I quote that Nissan part number to energy suspension and get it through them? That 20 , 21 bushing seems readily available but not the one for the 22 bolt on the linkage. Sorry for being a pain I'm just a bit confused as to who you got your replacements through.

    Thanks for all your help

    Kurt

Interesting. I had a quick look on eBay and eBay UK. Did other searches. Result was a big zero.

I purchased the Nissan part # 34112-J8000, my records show:
17/3/2007 102000 Reconditioned gear selector rod with new bushes.

    Recently replaced them again:
12/3/2016 134000 Reconditioned gear selector rod with new bushes

When I saw the condition of the original bushes, I was aghast. So in 2007 I purchased 10 of the buggers. At $2.50 each, it was a no brainer.
So now have two remaining as spares. (not for sale)

So what to do? Keep searching; wreckers; specialist Nissan parts shops. Look in the USA for Nissan Sentra cars spares.

    Good luck…

Thanks for your help, at least I have a part number to work with now which will hopefully make life easier.

Phil, since you have 2 spare would you perhaps give me its dimensions if you have some vernier calipers handy, outer and inner circumference and overall length. I'm not having much luck finding these and may have to make something to suit.

This may be your very lucky day…

When retrieving the bushes to measure for you, I realised that I had four (4) spares.

And considering that I know I will never need this set, as the Red Jett only does 2,000 klicks a year now, you can have 'em.

    Congrats…

PM me and we'll talk money and bank transfer stuff…

I wonder if whipping some of these up out of Delrin on a lathe would be worth my time... ??

Cozzm0, it might be well worth your time for other members, as it looks like there are no Nissan part# 34112-J8000 available anymore. So glad I purchased 12 of the units, nine years ago. Amazing how time flies.

I'm happy to help this dude out with my remaining four units as I will never need them now.

If you want pics and measurements, just holla…

    Cheers…

Thanks Phil, i think some accurate dimensions imposed on pictures from some factory original parts might be handy if you find the time.

I'll see what i do as i don't think i've ever changed them myself. I'm a novice on the lathe, but will be good to actually make something useful if they're simple to turn.

Yeah, you'll be surprised at the condition of the original bushes if you replace them. And to that, I have a hunch my local Nissan dealer has a box full of them.

Get back on Monday. You can do the change too...

Thanks for your help Phil, and yes I do intend to do a donation as soon as I have a bit to spare. I am merely a povo uni student these days surviving on aus study till some part time work comes around. I had previously donated $50 to the old forum when I was still working before leaving to get my degree but it mustn't show up now on the revitalized version.
