    Question Aircon compressor not engaing

Any clues as to what could be the issue with this? Green a/c light on console comes on, belt is brand new, but compressor won't come on = no cold air.

Any ideas for a fairly mechanically clueless person as to what the cause might be, can I fix it? I know how to change oil and spark plugs, and that's about it. Any help much appreciated!

There's a pressure switch that cuts the power to the compressor if there isn't enough refrigerant in the system. Maybe it needs gassing up?

Strangely, system has just been gassed. Needs more backstory; car has recently been involved in a crash, aircon condenser was damaged and replaced, system regassed, however repairer did not consider the compressor to have been damaged by the crash and wouldn't replace it under insurance despite the system working prior to the crash. So I don't think lack of refrigerant is the issue.

Step 1 - Complain to your insurance company. They need to ensure the vehicle is operating as it was prior to the accident.

Green light is recirculation for the air, the Blue light is for the A/C. If that doesn't come on and the fan is working then there pressure switch or wiring might be damaged and/or the compressor clutch wire or clutch maybe faulty. You can bypass and manually engage things but sounds like its past what you're up for and really, if they gassed it, they should have checked it was correctly working.

Over pressure will also cause the pressure switch to cut off.
