Shorten drive shafts to fit new wheels?

Hey all I recently got a new set of wheels for my Pulsar 98 Q and was told that I would need to shorten my drive shafts to make them fit.
Has anyone encountered this problem before?

No. The only problem I can think of is the CV stub/drive shaft might poke out a bit far preventing the centre cap to be fitted. I can't run centre caps on some of my wheels for this reason.
