View Full Version : Run on after acceleration

Hi all,

I have just been tidying up my Pulsar (1998) and I'm experiencing something odd when I activate the accelerator. If I accelerate just gently and then release the accelerator drum quickly, the revs continue high for a few seconds before dropping off to idle. If I accelerate hard and then release the drum quickly, the revs drop to a certain level, stick there for a second or so and then continue dropping to the idle speed over the next few seconds.

I've attached a link to a youtube clip which unfortunately is not wonderful. If you listen to the background noise you can hear the sound of the revs.

I'd love to be able to fix this as it is quite obvious when driving and results in a little bit of lurching.

Hopefully someone will have a pearl of wisdom for me or should I perhaps be posting this somewhere else.

Thanks,

Check the accelerator cable and linkage connections around the throttle body (butterfly).

May need a shot of WD40.

Also trim your throttle cable as well.
