I've got a short shift kit (came with the car), and whilst I like throw, I would prefer if the shifter/stick was a little taller.

What are my options here?

Is there a way just just change the shifter, perhaps back to the original one?

Can I get an adaptor made some where?

no super easy way around it. you can

a. put back on an original shifter, moving the ball down on it should work like a oem one with less travel.
b. bend it down towards you more ( i did this )1476
c. buy or make an extension for it. http://www.twmperformance.com/shifterextenders/nissan-shift-extender/

Buying an extension sounds easy enough!

I found these guys.. only USD $10.00 and $3.00 shipping!

You wouldn't happen to know the OEM thread size and pitch would you?

10x1.25 as the site suggests.

i prefer the screwdriver or dildo shifter methods, personally.

Is that a definite Cozzm0?

I've bought the OEM gear knob, but my concern is that my current shifter is a M10x1.5.

well if its aftermarket then i can't help with that for confirmation, but it SHOULD be the same as stock otherwise you couldn't use a stock knob which would be retarded.

I agree, it sounds logical..

I wonder if anyone here has a standard shifter and also happens to have a thread gauge and could/has measured it?

I bought a thread gauge from these guys... $10.38 delivered :D

So my after market shifter is most definitely an M10x1.5.

I can seem to find any one that has an off the shelf extender that converts M10x1.5 to M10x1.25

If I was to try and get one made, who (what profession) would make such a thing?

Well that is gonna suck for you.

You can't convert a thread like that due to it being so close to the original thread size. You can only convert it larger, so for example form 10x1.5 to 12x1.25. and even then, that's some really thin wall sleeve/spacer.

Apologies; I meant it more of an adaptor, like this:
http://1320performancestore.com/shifter%20extender%20convserions%20nissan%20to%20h onda%20toyota%20to%20honda

So the shifter extender is a 10x1.5 on the shifter end, and a 10x1.25 on the knob end.

Who would make these types of things?

A machine shop is what you need. I just find for small jobs like that they're stupidly expensive.
