View Full Version : Starter motor/flywheel grinding noise?!?

At first I thought the starter motor had carked it, but it appears it's lost a bolt and come loose.

Does anyone know the pitch, length and diameter of these bolts?

Are they same bolts in the GA16?

1 should be sufficient to hold it in place though really, so you might have other issues.

But not if he's lost one bolt and the other was loose. Then the starter may have been loosely held in by one loose bolt. (Too many looses in that sentence)
I can't help you op, but if desperate you could pull the remaining be out and see the size

So, problem solved with new bolt.. in fact, we had to change the other bolt as well.

It appears the previous owner had not used original bolts, but something from Bunnings... length was the same but thread pitch and diameter were not.

And for anyone that cares, bolts from a GA16 will not fit. Although they are the same pitch and diameter (M10x1.5), they are shorter in length.

Also, the top most bolt is easiest gotten to by removing the air box and hoses.

Any SR20 will do.. mine came from an NX (Auto)... here are some others:
