Hey fellas first of all thanks for letting me be a part of the club. Ive found a gem that has been sitting in some guys shed for over 4 years. Anyways I picked up somewhat cheap ($1500) and was told it wasnt running anymore due to the fuel pump and he never had the time to fix it. After a bit of time I got the tank out and saw there was black gunk everywhere inside. Certainly explains why the pump is broken, I cleaned it all out new pump and all. Put the tank back in and heard that sweet fuel being pumped around. We cranked the car and it started first time and went like a pearler. But then it started idling extremely rough and would then eventually stall. Without fail it would happen every time. I'm thinking it's the airflow sensor, I'm open to any suggestions as I'm super keen to drive my first SSS.10861087

1st guess is that "black gunk" is now somewhere between the tank and the fuel injectors, and causing more trouble. start there.

Blowing out the lines with an air compressor help? Or are we talking taking it apart that way?.

And don't forget to get a NEW fuel filter.

Do I have some questions for you...
But we will start with just these for now,

1. How long after fixing the pump and tank did it take for it to start idling rough? (actual engine runing time)
2. Have you replaced the fuel filter since its started idling rough?
If so
3. Did it make any difference?
4. Can you keep it alive by holding part throttle?
If so
5. Does it start running smoother as you get up in the revs OR does it still sound like all cylinders are firing unevenly?
6. Is there any particular rpm that you can't rev it past or can you take it right trough the revs?

Did you end up finding out what the problem was?
